US trip
Local ideas include Boeing tour, Naval base and sea planes.
Hire car booked with CarHire3000 as recommended by Sarah Oliver. My initial booking looked OK but there was a lack of details about the one way travel fee as my drop off point was not where I picked up the car. Called the helpdesk and they pointed out the company (may have been Alamo but not sure) charged $500! The operator suggested using National as although the daily charge was slightly more their fee was $250. I have booked a ‘Ford Focus’ size car for the duration of the trip. The fee is payable in America.

Passport
As my passport only has about six months to run I thought it would be sensible to renew it before my US trip. Filled in the application and took to the local post office to use their priority check & send service (£8 extra). The new passport complete with ID chip arrived Sunday morning just xx days after the application went in!
Once I had the passport back I applied for and received the electronic visa waiver for the USA (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov).

USA here I come.
Today I started to book my trip to America. Ihave booked the flights via expedia.com the first flight leaves on 7th September from London Heathrow to Seattle, Washington the return trip leaves on 28th September from San Francisco, California back to London Heathrow.
I used Greenbee.com to book accommodation on the first two nights in Seattle. When entering the United States America you must have your first nights accommodation already booked. I have arranged two nights in the Red Roof Inn, which is next to Seattle Airport, they offer a free shuttle service and free WIFI in the rooms. That will give me an opportunity to find my feet and sort out my next moves on from Seattle.
Ideas at the moment include ferry trips and the sites of Seattle including the Seattle Space Needle (http://www.spaceneedle.com/) and may be the Boeing Factory.
